NEWS AND EVENTS
In July our Blizzard 17U team travelled to Italy where we visited some amazing places in Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Lake Como, and even Lugano, Switzerland. While in Italy, we played 3 matches against local club teams. It was an amazing experience for our athletes.
Our last match featured Canadian warm-up music, the Canadian and Italian national anthems, the exchange of gifts, and the crowd was treated to a 5 set match. Our players also had the opportunity to interact with the other team after the match. Overall an incredible experience for the athletes. In 2020 SPVC will organise another international trip. We’ve taken teams to China and Italy, who knows where we will go next. You can be part of the team so come to tryouts and make it happen.
The volleyball community came out in full force to support Erin Pele and her family on the June 22nd weekend beach volleyball fundraiser. An amazing group of organizers put together a silent auction, the beach tournament that ran 3 days, and food services. There were so many sponsors of the event and everything done for such a good cause. Just when you think it couldn’t get any better a slowpitch team from across the street came over to show their support as well after they heard what was happening.
Good luck Erin, stay strong and we hope to see you on the court soon.
Congratulations to Jr. Blizzard Green for winning the 2018 Crystal Cup competition. The Athletes treated the crowd to some very exciting moments in the final match. The teams were very close in score all the way to the end.
Thank you to all the coaches for once again delivering an excellent program over the 8 week period with SPVC. This program has been a huge success delivering the basic skills of volleyball. Our goal is to match great athletes with great coaches to promote volleyball in the Peace region. Every year we see some amazing growth in our athletes.
This year 16 athletes were chosen to train from January to April. They will compete in local 13U tournaments to continue their volleyball training with SPVC. This elite training program is the first of its kind in the region
